How does it work?

  • From July 2008 The Federal Government is supporting the use of educational computing in Aussie homes through the introduction of a 50% Education Tax Refund.
  • Eligible expenses include notebook and desktop computers and associated costs, educational software, and Internet connections.

Families registered for Family Tax Benefit A, Youth Allowance or similar payment can claim:

  • $750 for each primary aged child (a refund of $375)
  • $1500 for each secondary aged child (a refund of $750)
On a family basis
  • The entitlements are on a per child basis, so a family with one primary and one secondary aged child could claim a refund of 50% of $2,250.
